This magnificent 5000 sq ft, nine bedroom, grade 2 listed home is ideal for small groups to 20+ people and is perfectly placed for you to explore Wales’s buzzing capital city. With the property’s unique mixture of luxury living and historical intrigue, you will be sure of a hugely comfortable and memorable stay.

The Space

Plymouth Chambers comprises over 5,000 sq. ft. of completely unique city centre living. Classic Victorian; this stunning grade 2 listed building was built in 1888 by the Earl of Plymouth, the region’s largest land owner, for his Head of Estates. The property has been completely renovated, yet retains nearly all of its original features, including two strong rooms which were used to hoard the Earl’s rental collections. The house is brimming full of interesting antiques and a mixture of traditional and contemporary original artwork.

Plymouth Chambers has everything you could want for the perfect stay in Cardiff

Plymouth Chambers has double or triple glazing for sound protection; it has smoke detection in all rooms and emergency exit points on each floor leading to an external fire escape. The house also benefits from a full fire sprinkler protection system throughout.

All of the reception, hallway and landing lights come on automatically, so you won’t have to find your way in the dark at night.

Everything is simple to use and it’s the ideal place to stay in Cardiff if you want to experience the wonder of a stunning classic Victorian listed building, with all of the modern conveniences you’d expect in a new home. It’s also on the doorstep of some of Cardiff’s best wine bars and restaurants, as well as its thriving live music scene.

Guests will be able to access all of the house using an electronic entry system, with the exception of the basement, storage cupboards and the sprinkler tank room.

Ground Floor

A grand Victorian entrance hallway with a traditional Welsh oak dresser.
Large dining room, with relaxing areas and seating for up to 20 guests.
Fully operational kitchen with cooking facilities including twin ovens, microwave and hob.
Relax in front of a Bang and Olufsen TV, read a book, or listen to your favourite tunes.

First Floor

A mahogany panelled sitting room, with an outstanding, ornate, hand carved fireplace.
Study, which doubles up as a games room or private dining room.
Large communal "getting ready room", with its own Victorian massage table!
Beautiful built in sauna, found on the first floor. Can fit four people.

There is a bathroom with either a shower or bath on each upper sleeping floor, together with two showers in the “Getting ready room” on the first floor. There are separate WC/Washroom facilities on each floor. There are six WC’s in total.

The Neighbourhood

Plymouth Chambers is located right in the heart of the City Centre right next to the iconic Millennium Stadium, Angel Hotel, Castle and Cardiff Arms Park. Cardiff is emerging in the new millennium as one of Britain’s leading urban centres. Spread between an ancient fort and an ultramodern waterfront, compact Cardiff seems to have surprised even itself with how interesting it has become.

Nowhere is this vitality more evident than in Cardiff’s buildings – it flexes newly acquired architectural muscles as if it’s still astonished to have them. Such confidence is infectious, and these days it’s not just the rugby that draws crowds into the city. Come the weekend, a buzz reverberates through the streets as swarms of shoppers hit the Hayes, followed by waves of revellers descending on the capital’s thriving pubs, bars and live-music venues. Cardiff also makes an excellent base for day trips to the surrounding valleys and coast, where you’ll find castles, beaches, interesting industrial sites and ancient monuments.

Getting Around

Plymouth Chambers is about 400 metres away from Cardiff Central Train and Bus Station. There are regular buses to the bay within 50 metres of the house and a water taxi stop is less that 250 metres away in Bute Park which can take you to Cardiff Bay in style.

A FEW HOUSE RULES

  • Check-in is any time after 4PM and check out by 11AM. Earlier check in and later check out by arrangement.
  • Self check-in with smart lock
  • Strictly no smoking
  • No parties, or events involving non-guests
  • No parking at property – There are numerous car parks near to the property. Please contact for long stay options.
  • Potential for noise – Double or triple glazing throughout, but on major event days the city can be noisy.
  • Must climb stairs – Plymouth Chambers is set over four floors and has an amazing, but high staircase.
  • If you damage the home or its contents, you may be charged the full amount of the damage.
  • Surveillance or recording devices on property – Surveillance on front door and rear fire exit door only for security.

Cancellations

  • Strict cancellation policy

  • All deposits and agreed staged payments are non-refundable once paid

  • In the event of a Major Event being announced between the time of booking and the scheduled stay, Cardiff City House Ltd, trading as Plymouth Chambers, may cancel the booking up to one month prior to the stay subject to paying a full refund of the deposit and staged payments made.
